hi guys, I heard about this site from someone on another forum.
I hope to learn alot from you, I just bought myself a Digital SLR last month and have gained lots of interest in photography lately. I get most of my advice/learning off the internet but would love to communicate with those that know what to do..anyway hope you guys are nice out here |

Victor, welcome to DPC. I have been here less than a year and have learned so much. I hope this site is as helpful to you also. There are some really good photogs here - lots to learn from them.

hi linda,
heres some recent pics i took this past weekend for those that want to see what all i can do.you're all welcome to critque
I tried to do some directional lines on this first one,wish i had a model in that bench though. and I realize that spot under the bench is very very hot :(

I like the flow of the water - the slow speed makes it very satiny. The trees in the foreground are sa biut distracting though. If you get the chance, try shooting this from other angles - wherfe you can get the foreground free of distractions, and perhaps show more of the depth of the stream. Only other problem is the over-exposed area along the top through the trees. I would crop it a little tighter along top to eliminate this area all together.
I just love waterfalls. Keep up the shooting. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Just don't fall into the trap of submitting to micro-stock libraries.

Welcome to dpchallenge. I've been here only a few months myself and have learned a lot.
Really like the water shot. The sunlit parts are a bit overexposed. Maybe you could try moving in a bit closer.
Like the framing in the b&w shot but doesnt really grab the attention.

Shutterstock.com....
Istockphoto.com....
for example.
They pay out anywhere between 20c and 60c for a download of your work.
Unless you like those numbers I suggest if you wish to submitt your work to a stock library, don't touch them. These sites are ruining the stock industry. I really don't see the point staring at the computer screen for 4-6 months while watching your earnings tick over by 20c at a time before you get to take out your pay at US$100, when a single sale on a PROPER library can pay that out in one hit.
I'll probably get an ear-full after these comments but if you are serious about using your camera to earn money, don't undersell your hard work.

Welcome to the jungle. I recommend checking out the learn tab here. Read all the tutiorials and the How did they do that? Great reads.

I like the water shot....I also have the D70. Learn it well..use it to it's potential like I'm trying to do....you'll love it...
