With the help of a photographer I ran into at Circuit City today I have narrowed my search for a new camera down to these two.
Konica Minolta M10- i think that's what it is lol.
and the Nikon D50
Both are DSLR's. I really like the way the Nikon felt in my hand. All the DSLR's I looked at today confused me because there are so many button ect. After using me easy lil p&s it was a lot to look at.
I also looked at the Canon S2 IS which is my 3rd choice. But this guy said even for an amatuer and if I want to go somewhere with photography my best bet would be to go the DSLR route and buy the extra lenses as I went along.
Got a lot of good info from him and he was very helpful- more so then the employees at the store lol.
SO now I'm off to do some more research on the first two I listed to see what I can find. |

Kimberly - I don't think you can go wrong with either the Nikon or Konica/Minolta as an entry level DSLR. If you are still in doubt after a little research go back out and ask to shoot a few pics with both cameras. Go with whichever feels the best to you.
Good luck in your quest! |

I suggest the Minolta. It has IS built in, making all your lenses worth hundreds of dollars more than they would be on a Canon or Nikon.
You could get the excellent Sigma 18-125 or 18-200 or Tamron 28-75 F2.8, and each of these becomes even better than if put on another camera, since they will all have IS.
Canon and Nikon put IS into the lens, making each lens with that feature much more expensive.
