I find definitely one of two things happens with my challenge entries:
it either starts off well with the first few votes and then plummets dreadfully through the night or
it starts off poorly and then painfully slow climbs through the night.

So my conclusion is: the secret to winning a ribbon is not to find the secret formula to please the masses as it is often said here, but to find the formula to please the first night voters !!!
