Found a store in Weston, MO today that sold TONS of old photographic equipment. The lighting inside was horrid for photographs, and my camera really didn't focus well, it was my last shot on the card, and the wife and kids were waiting (rather impatiently) outside. All that to say, forgive the bad capture, but I had to share anyways. The lens laying on it's side was made in 1895.
Here are a few camera's from his front window. He has a 70's era rolleiflex inside that I would love to have to start a collection, but it was $350 :o(. He wanted $10 for an old 80's playschool camera, and one of the little Kodak ones that used to come in cornflakes when I was a kid. Those were the days.

Half of the store is dedicated to a gallery of his late uncle's vaudeville images, GALLERY, and some more images HERE
I think he get's most of his money from selling prints to tourists, and he really donesn't look the type for forging into the digital world. He looked somewhat askance at my mere digicam amongst all of his 100+ year old bellows cameras. heheh

OMG, I didn't even ask about the pictures. Those were all vintage 11x14 film reprints. I am such a stooge! I thought they were just taken to LOOK like that.. argh!

When I was young I used to work at a refuge dump for household and company garbage and I can remember seeing so many box cameras in the trsh (maybe still are a few down there, the place is still very active) I saved a couple of them but they are in UK I am in Japan, I really LOVE old things (being one myself) I could spend all day in that shop quite easily. I can remember an old alluminum Italian camera i found that was 120 film format and a KODAK BROWNIE box cam i have too. There are a ton of old cameras in junk shops around Japan that will surely be the treasures of tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing these with us. |

My pride & joy was my Zeiss 50mm f1.2 on my Contax RTS.
Sad - someone wanted my camera gear more than I did years back. Sure left a sick feeling in my stomach returning to a vandalized apartment |
