Thanks to everyone who voted and commented on my (not so great) entry in Celebration.
I got some comments that said that my colours were nice and vibrant. Others said that my colours needed bumping up a bit. They look almost painfully saturated on my monitor but clearly we are not all seeing the same thing. So I thought a little test might help us all understand what we are seeing.
When you look at the picture (thumbnail below):
1. Do you see the colurs as vibrant and saturated or are they muted?
2. Is your monitor currently calibrated using external hardware and software (eg Spyder)? Yes or No will do. (My monitor is not externally calibrated)
Thanks

Looks vibrant on my lcd. I use adobe gamma to calibrate and EasyRGB. Also thinking about getting a Spyder calibration tool.
The prints post-processed on the monitor looks very close to what I can print on my Pixma printer. |

On my CRT monitor - if I set the colour adjustment to 9300K the colours look good, if I set it to 6500K the colours look a little saturated but not bad, and if I set it to 5500K the colours are a little dull and lifeless.
People set their monitors at different colour settings and thus everyone will see your pictures differently. For example I normally work on the 5500K setting because I use the computer a lot and it is much easier on the eyes. But when I review photos I will generally use the 6500K setting.

Looks very saturated on my Spyder calibrated MAC ACD. |

Looks good but bordering on oversaturated on my Mac (no external calibration). Also visible is a slight granular look, especially in the lower half of the sky; you shot at ISO200 so I guess this is not noise, but maybe a processing artifact - perhaps you used Shadows/Highlights in Photoshop? |

The colours are pretty good on my monitor! I wouldn't say mine is perfect though! Some say mine is a little on the dark side! |

The photo looks great, I love the colors! Have a Dell LCD calibrated with Adobe Gamma. Oh, and it looked so good I gave it a 7. :) |

On my CRT monitor calibrated with MonacoOptix the colors are very vibrant but almost a little too much. The blue sky is on the verge of being too blue to be real looking. The pumpkins look like they may be sharpened a tad too much. Very nice shot though. I like the way the row of pumpkins leads your eyes into the photo. |

It would have been more useful to choose a shot which doesn't have a green sky, purple grass and pink pumpkins - otherwise things are fine on my CRT.

Looks really vibrant to me, and I only calibrated my computer suing integrated software that came with it (IE. crappy). |

Colors look pretty good here -- vibrant, but not oversaturated. My monitor is not calibrated. |

Are there any other sites you can calibrate at? I tried that EasyRGB, but it would not complete the calibration.
