I'm just wondering what schools for photography are out there? I'm interesting in pursuing a career, but I have no idea what to look for. I'm also wondering what kind of different jobs there are out there for photographers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Dan

I'm a student of Ohio Institute of Photography and tech.

I love this school, though I didn't at first. Check it out, if you decided to visit or anything pm me and I'll show you around.

I looked into Art Institutes (seattle and portland, namely) but was dissuaded by the fact that they only have two year degrees. My parents are really pushing for me to have a bachelors, which I don't blame them for. They look like good schools that give you a good range of education.

Kansas City Art Institute is a school I'm considering. David Lachapelle, one of my favorite photographers went to The School of Visual Arts in New York.

There are humdreds, if not thousands, of schools with photography programs. Where do you want to go?

For a 4-year degree, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence is exceptionally nice. They have, or used to have anyway, a reciprocal arrangement with Brown University, my alma mater, so RISD students could take some courses at Brown and Brown students could study some art at RISD.

It's a lovely corner of the world, Narragansett Bay area. Not too long a drive to NYC or to Boston, plus Amtrak serves both of course, and just a hop and a skip from Buzzard's bay and cape Cod. Lots of REALLY good Italian food in Providence also :-)
