When i first came to Japan from London I left over $1000 in cash on the dashboard with all the windows down and doors unlocked while i ran to the store for a coke and some ciggies, i totally forgot about the money being there and when i looked for it in my pocket to pay the lady, realizing what i had done i ran to the car to find it was still there still open and the cash still on the dashboard, this was parked outside the train station and very busy..

Sorry to hear about your loss, I have experienced loss too and understand the feeling well. get a Nikon D70 with the kit lens and you may have enough left over for an extra zoom they D70 dropped heavy in price since the release of the D70s and D50.

Man you guys live in some bad places....I don't think I have ever locked my car doors.....maybe once when I went to downtown Atlanta.....other than that I usually leave the keys in the truck......Even when I go into Wal-mart.

its not a bad place to live. just alot of people that are relatively poor looking to make some quick money. most people in nyc leave nothing valuable in their car, just on the odd chance someone does decide to knock out one of your windows.

Any local pawn shops or one in the next town? I would check those for the camera equipment and stuff possibly. Never know.

LOL! Next town. Apparently Kansas City is suddenly a 1 stoplight town instead of a thriving metropolis.

Lord knows there's easier ways than a pawn shop. Betcha half the stuff on e-bay is crooked.

Yeah, I checked the trash for my wallet, just cause I thought they might toss it all when they saw no cash. No luck.... and go figure, my camera warrenties don't cover "stolen"... only damages. anyone have any pieces of a camera I can borrow. Grrrrrrr
