I really like this image I took at night ovcr sarasota bay. Submitted it to a stock agency and they rejected it because of astifacts and halos. Exactly what are aftifacts, what causes them (I'd guess improper exposure), and can they be fixed in post editing?[thumb]245387[/thumb]

had wrong id number. (blushing here)

and it was artifacts and hazing. have no idea what hazing is.

I think these are artifacts;



Normally introduced by jpg compression, either the camera 'image quality' is set too low, or they were caused when saving the processed jpg from PS at too low a quality.

No. they look like lights on a tower or building. To see the artifacts you would need to see the actual image that was sent in at the actual size and then blow it up a bit. Artifacts can be a number of different things, such as a pixelated image or an image with little dots of color that don't belong. Just know that if you blow up the image and see dots or patterns in the picture that you know should not be there they are probably artifacts.

look closely...there are jpg artifacts around the two lights.

But, you're right, we're not seeing the same image as the print version, so it's hard to say exactly.
