I've never bought a quality lens before. But I'm in the market for a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM (I'm not sure if I need the IS version). However, I want to buy it from a place that offers a good warranty. I know there are a lot of DPers that have this lens and/or other relatively expensive lenses. Who offers the best warranty? What does a "good" (or great) lens warranty cover?

I bought my 20D at Ritz Camera and they have a pretty comprehensive warranty...but they don't sell a wide selection of lenses in their stores.

Canon covers the USA versions of their lenses with a one year warranty. I don't know what Ritz offers but I'd suggest a 3 year extended warranty from Mack Camera available for $50 at B&H. You don't have to purchase the lens from them to get this warranty. You just have to buy the warranty within 30 days of buying the lens. Mack warranties are sold by many camera stores but B&H has the best prices on them. Some places that sell cameras and lenses at very low prices charge a lot for warranties to make up the difference.
