I need to explain my picture.

It is common practise in cricket to celebrate significant milestones (50, 100, 150, etc runs) when batting by acknowledging the crowd, fellow players, etc. The title is based around this. A ton is a century of runs, and Lords is the home of cricket - a stadium in London, England. I think that most cricketers would love to score a 100 at Lords and have their name up on the honours boards (my son - the model - excepted ... he wanted it to be Newlands, the local Cape Town Stadium).

Some celebratory examples, and a link to the ICC, the governing body of cricket:
Graeme Smith celebration
Jacques Kallis celebration

Thanks to all the people who voted and commented. I hope that I have explaind to those of you that went 'Huh'!

Cheers
Tony

BTW: a lot of comments were about how dark it was. It was meant to be a silhouette. I am just worried that for some/most people it was not visible at all. Comments?

I guess I was one of the five people that gave you an "8". I had only a vague idea of a child celebrating a cricket match but I definately felt the joy of the celebration. Thanks for the explanation. I may have just doubled my knowledge of Cricket.
On the "dark" comments. It's obviously a silhouette. I noticed that many people will comment that pictures are dark or blurry when that intent was obvious. Don't let that get to you. If you see something as dark then as an artist (not a photo-journalist) you need to express it that way. Great job.

A silhouette is one thing, but I think you could have upped the contrast a bit to bring up some highlight areas and still had the silhouette, but given the shot much more drama.

This is my 10 second attempt.

I like that ... maybe slightly less. It really makes it stronger.

Thanks
Tony

Like the pic and yes I do understand it and its title!

"Feels like a ton up at Lords!" may well have suited it being a child better.
Can see the silhouette fine - just a bit of a grey rather than black!
