How do you change a layer mode to screen? Right in the middle of a project and I'm stuck. Thanks.

On your screen is a layers pallette. It shows each of the layers in your image, and the order in which they are stacked. Click on the desired layer to make it active, and look in the upper left of the layers box in the layers pallette; it says "normal". Click the down-arrow there to see a list of layer modes, and choose "screen". Then use the opacity slider to tune the effect.
