Here are a few shots from a quickie little shoot earlier today with my lovely little friend Michelle (aka Mimi :)
Comments and critique are appreciated verily muchly. ;)
I was having a hard time making up my mind about a bunch of these, so maybe yall could help me out. :)

This is the edited version:

And just a bump with some extra noise and lots o' contrast in this version. /\

Uncropped: and cropped:
Uncropped: and cropped:

And then a few more just for grins and giggles:

Thanks everyone!
Cheerio,
Cristin

edited to take out the shots that I finally decided weren't worth the space they were taking up in my portfolio. :)

Is my favourite composition, and its interesting as well.

The others are pretty good too, but that's my fav.

I like this one the best. I dont like the grain or the pose on the very first one and the lighting overall is a bit dull for me, they seem to do better as black and white. I like the cropped version of the second one too. Also the safety pin that is in her top is a bit strange.
Hope this helps

Yes, it does. :) Do you think a little bump up in contrast would help with the dull lighting problem?
I may try that, see what I come up with...

if done as just artsy photos, pretty good. but if this is an attempt to do a portrait of this pretty girl, asking her not to wear a shirt that detracts from her face is important. we want to look at her face. her expressions are great, a reflector can help too. just my experiences talking. thanks

Hmm, thanks for the input. :) I think that I was going for more of an artsy kind of feel to these, rather than just standard portraits, you know?
And it was just a really quickie shoot, I didn't even think about the silly shirt until editing these earlier. :) Next time I will be more observant!

cool shots. but it looks like you had to shoot at high isos to handhold the shots. do you have a tripod? if not, get a worn in hacky sack.

hope this helps

Yeah thanks, Justin. :) I do have a tripod, but there was a lot of light out there so I didn't use it. I shot the whole thing at iso 400, which is what I always shoot at, and isn't usually too noisy...but the shots looked noisy to you? Hmmm...

Shameless bump for the morning/noon-time crowd. :)

Are the shots really that awful?

well, the shots didn't look noisy to me, and the rebel doesn't really have a problem with noise at all, so maybe that guy was just seeing some pixelation from resizing.

I would agree that there were too many distracting elemnts (safey pin, shirt, tape on the shoulder). Maybe if you added a grunge look those elements could work too. Or maybe a slight gothic glow or something.

Hmm, so maybe these would be better (I worked on grunging a few of them):

Please tell me if I'm going absolutely in the wrong direction with these...Or if they just can't be salvaged... :/

Okay, one last bump then I promise I'll quit bumping my own thread. :)
I'd just really like some more input here...And thanks tons to everyone who already commented! :)

Well, I don't have much more to say really - You know how to use a camera, and you know how to use PS!!.... I can't find anything technically wrong with any of them that hasn't been pointed out already (minor distractions)

By the way, you didn't post this one earlier, I think it's another good one;

Teehee, thanks man. :) I'm trying to learn that stupid grunging thing everyone has been doing lately, so I'm glad these attempts haven't failed completely. :)

Hi Christie

I definitely like what you have done on these last edits and the "eyes" one is lovely, in fact this is my favorite of the bunch!
