Tried to give this shot an aged look. First time really playing with the idea. Any thoughts or suggestions to improve the technique?

Thanks!

Try burning the edges a bit.

Thanks, pawdrix. I assume you meant the edges of the photo. I played with it a bit more...added more burn on the edges, and a closer crop, tweak tweak tweak...

Is this better?

A trick I use for making renderings look aged is to find a really old photo with nice film grain and ageing atrifacts.
Pictures of a lot of sky works good.
Work this up as a layer in PShop and voila.
Hight contrast also helps.

It's outta control better. Nice job. I like it.

More important...what do you think?

There is a pattern in the noise you added. Maybe it's due to the resizing and compression. If not, and if you added the noise in a different layer, apply a wave filter or something that destroys the regularity.

Thanks everyone for the comments/suggestions.

gloda: There is noise and patterns on several layers. One has vertical lines with noise added, one has a crumpled paper texture with noise added, and one duplicate background layer has noise added. Lots of room for the repetition you are seeing. I'm sure I could work with most, but the duplicate layer may be tough. :-/

pawdrix: Thanks for the initial tip for more burn on the edges. Am I happy with it?? I'd say about 90% happy. The burn is a circular gradient set to burn mode and faded. I think a more irregular pattern would be better, but when I tried, it looked like crap (my limited abilities). Also, the scratches/creases could be better, but I got tired of messing with them.

Thanks SCI, and thanks for the tip BlackDot.
