I took a picture of my wee boy last night and I was wondering if any of you editing guru's out there would like a wee challenge.
Do whatever you want to the picture, here's the thumbnail.
But the original is here

Quick and dirty stab at it. I'll play around some more later.

It appears that the original has already been edited; there's almost no latitude for color adjustments before it starts blocking up with artifacts. I started playing with it, this was as far as I went. The gaussian haloing would have to go, but I'm waiting to see if we can get an out-of-the-camera original. Also, are you looking for "funny" stuff (godzilla and the like) or the "best" portrait that can be made from this?

Oh, I worked with the original from that link; it's just that there's so little latitude available in the hue/sat adjustment before it starts blocking up that I thouhgt you might have already done some adjustment to THAT one. Is it straight out of the camera, no sharpening or other adjustments?

What exactly do you want? Something funny? Something cute? What're you gonna do with it?

Robert, This is this original straight from the camera and nothing's been done to it. I see what you mean about not much etc to work on, but I know the magic that I've seen other DPC'ers doing to shots.
Ennil. It's just for fun. You can be as imaginative as you like. Make Oliver into whatever you like, we won't get upset :-) kpriest's idea below is great, or a sweet angelic look would be fun too. As I said, do whatever you want to.
What am I doing it for? Well, just fun really. Ollie has his own blog so I guess the best entries will go there, then when he's a big bigger he can look back to see what the DPC'ers did to him. |

It's odd. I'm not referring to the "quality" of the image per se; it's just that when I open it up and make a hue/sat adjustment layer, I can only drag the slider a short distance on saturation before it starts pixelating. Typically, this is what happens when I try to do hue/sat on an image that's already been saturated before, so... I wondered.
Robt.
