I'm looking for a very inexpensive way to build a portfolio type book. I would like for it to hold 5x7 and 8x10 shots. I would prefer something that has a mat sort of insert. It doesn't have to have a fancy or leather cover. I'd like to start by perhaps having something that would hold up to maybe 50 photos, and be capable of expansion for adding more later.

All of this and I don't want to spend more than about $40.00 or so. Any ideas? I've looked online, but the prices they want are unbeleivable! So, if I have to spend more I will eventually, but I thought I'd turn here first and see if you have any ideas?

Well this one doesn't have the mats and is obviously a cheaper type, but not too bad and the price is certainly right. I'm still looking, though. I had never thought before now to look at b&h for albums. They really have a pretty good selection.

This I think looks a little sleeker, but it's doesn't appear to be expandable and doesn't hold too many.

Judy, Just a thought, if it helps. I found these at Costco, and it looks great and was really cheap. At the actual store they were $12.99 for two. I got the one with the single window in front, then designed a classy 4x6 b/w photo with my name and info on it. They say scrapbook, but works nicely as a portfolio. They are expandable, so you could take the inserts out of the other one and use those as well, I'm just not sure exactly what's the maximum they'll hold. I have 24 8x10/8x12's in mine now and there's plenty of room to add more pages. Pages are 12"x12" and very durable. Lots of nice compliments on it.

Thanks Marc. I do like the looks of that.

I have a couple of 12x12 scrapbooks with the inserts. Maybe I can just cut me some nice mats that will fit those inserts and display either one 8x10 or two 5x7's. I'm just thinking as I type here.

For me, I opted for larger prints so people could see the detail better. It looks nice when it takes up most of the page too. It depends on what your using it for I guess, but you have some really nice work, show it off! :-) I'll take a couple photos if you want tomorrow and share them with you.

Sure...I'd like to see what you (or anyone else?) might have put together! Thanks.
