I know many of you have very generously supported Terry (Clubjuggle) in his commitment to raising funds for MS organisations.

If any of you have any more to spare for this cause, perhaps you'll be willing to sponsor another marathon runner looking for sponsorhip.

She's one of my sister's best friends and has chosen this particular cause because my sister has MS and she wants to support a UK-based organisation that supports sufferers.

Her name is Abi and here is the link, should anyone be interested:

//www.justgiving.com/abigailb-d

I do appreciate that there are so very many deserving causes out there that we cannot all support every one so I do understand if people do not want to support this particular run, especially not knowing the runner herself.

Still, if the post generates one single sponsor to pledge even a couple of dollars, it will be gratefully received.

If you donate, please feel free to include in your personal message that you're a friend of Kavey's if you'd like Abi to know how you came across her link, though that's not necessary, certainly. Please don't mention my sister in your message though. Thanks.

hey Kavey!
Just went to the website but it shows the "L" (don't have that letter/note on my keyboard)....will they take donations for American Dollars? I'll go back and skim over again and see if it shows anything...

It shows the L?
I don't understand?

Re donations, I think what happens is that they take the amount in pounds but it shows on your credit card as dollars - rather than the site doing the conversion that leaves it to your credit card company to do so - in my experience one gets the best rate that way.

I can check if you can donate in US dollars but I don't know.

PS THANKS FOR LOOKING!

I called Just Giving and they confirmed that donations are taken only in pounds and that they do not apply conversion but that your credit card company should do so.

I often use my UK credit card to order things off the net in both dollars and Euros, and even other currencies - my credit card company converts according to the exchange rate on the day they get the transaction - the rate they give me has always been better than I could get if I went and converted cash so I'm happy.

If you are still willing to donate, my sincere thanks. If not, I'll understand fully.

Yeah that's it....italic L with a squiggly line.... :)
I'm going to try it and see if it works...I have my credit card take directly out of my bank account (debit card). I'll let you know if it works one way or the other....I'm not sure how the pounds system is compared to dollars...I'll go search and let you know if it works out.

Hey Kavey!
Looks like it worked!! Tried the visa debit card thingie...didn't work...just selected regular visa and it looks like it went through fine! Yeah!

Have a great day and let your sister know that people far away are praying for her :)

Colette, I thank you deeply.
My sister is lucky in that she's not currently in a flare-up period but it's a hard disease for many sufferers to cope with because doctors cannot currently predict progress of the disease. Understanding of causes is limited let alone being near to finding a cure but research plus support for sufferers are both funded by this charity.

I know that many of your folks have donated for Terry's MS Challenge Walk. This is just a reminder that donating doesn't have to be a one time only, or even a one person only thing.

This is a disease that doesn't stop impacting people after Walk season is over. Even if you only donate $5 US, it makes an impact. Running a marathon is hard. This is a great cause, it directly impacts people in this community that we know.

What are you going to spend that $5 on? McDonalds? A gallon of gas? Why not spend it somewhere that it makes an impact on the life of someone else. It's only $5. What have you got to lose?

Clara,
Beautifully said, thank you.
The response of my internet friends has been phenomenal and Abi has now raised her target to £2000 since she hit £1000 within the first 24 hours.
If anyone is willing to donate even just a couple of £s towards that goal, you're donation will be much appreciated.
Thanks again,
Kavita

Kavey,

Can you shoot me a PM on Thursday with a reminder to donate? I'd like to support this, but it's probably best if I do so on payday. ;-)

Thanks,
Terry

Terry, you do so much for MS support already that I wouldn't expect you to donate to this also. I'll be happy to drop a reminder but please don't feel obligated.

I just posted on your thread and am so proud to know you. You've done a wonderful job yet again and I know that your commitment to helping MS sufferers is an ongoing one.

THANKS!

PS, the response has been so wonderful that Abi's raised her sponsorship target not once but twice. It was £1500, which she's already achieved, and is now £2500. WOO HOO!

Thanks to some very generous folk all around the world, Abi's raised and passed her target several times and is now not far off £4000.

She'll be running the New York marathon (during a holiday with my sis and other friends) on the 6th November - this Sunday.

After the marathon is over they'll go on another marathon - a shopping one - but not with the money raised for charity, don't worry!

If anyone else would be willing to donate, however small an amount, we'd be grateful.

THANK YOU
Kavey

Hey everyone!

It's no secret that MS is a cause that's close to my heart, so I'm glad to see Abi getting so much support! Please consider supporting Abi in her marathon, even a few £ will help!

~Terry

Thanks to those who gave their support.
Abi raised £4,295.41 and ran her first marathon in only 4 hours and 39 minutes!
That's an amazing pair of achievements!
Just wanted to thank those who gave financial and emotional support!
