i entered a photo of a monarch butterfly in the greeting cards challenge. it didn't fair too well, which is fine. most folks around me liked it best, and i thought the complementary colors added some POP.

for an hour or so, i chased three or four them around our yard. they aren't the easiest things to shoot in the wild. i'd put them at about 65% as difficult as a humming bird photographed away from a feeder. i couldn't use a tripod because most of the time they were very low to the ground. here a couple others that i converted from RAW.

beautiful shots, tim. you're not kidding, they're hard as hell to shoot. i got lucky as all get out to catch this one in flight

That's funny, my Daughter didn't have any trouble. :D



LOL.

Found the little bugger outside in the morning before it was warm enough to fly off. :0)

one of them was published in a local paper.
