Hi - they do look a bit on the soft side - what is your sharpness setting on?

finally someone believes me it is on normal but i cant change that in auto mode can i

Yeh your right - on auto you cannot change the sharpness. Is it ok with photos in other modes? If yes then I would take it back to the shop for a replacement.

Just try shooting in manual mode and i would suggest leaving it on normal setting, but in saying that i looked at your pictures and came to this conclusion.

It looks just like mine a tad soft but i dont see a problem i always run my pics through PS and just sharpen them slightly...

If you read the fuji forums most people set thier camera on soft mode (i dont like it) and sharpen later.....they do this because they claim it reduces noise.

I only use normal and sharpen later and i am very happy and IMHO if you are to return the camera because you think the pics are blurry then i personally think its a mistake.

You wont get a better camera for that "price range"...(the sony 717 and fuji s602 are the best) these two cameras have thier pros and cons i.e the 717 does produce crisper pics but the s602 has better dynamic range.

p.s I never use 6mp i Only use 3mp and you should always use manual mode where possible ..it does make a difference.

I agree - i only use 3m not 6m setting, this may be the cause but i have not had that much experience with 6m so dont take my word for it. However I have rarely had the need to sharpen my photos via software. If you are still not getting sharper photos with other settings then i would take it back to the shop and get it replaced with another 602z.

I agree to - I used to shoot in 6mp fine mode but on screen they look very soft but printed ok.
Now i shoot in 3mp fine and photos look very sharp on screen but have slightly less detail when printed large say A4.

Because the 6mp image is interpolated up from a 3mp CCD you are always going to need to do some sharpening on it. The raw 6mp image was never intended to be viewed at full size on a monitor. Your shots look perfectly okay to me - they just need some post processing to sharpen them up.

I would advise switching out of Auto mode straight away. The program-auto mode 'P' still sets shutter and aperture for you, but you will be able to drop the ISO from 200 to 160 and change the in-camera sharpening mode.
