Not sure if it's ok to post a link to another forum (please delete it if this is not correct) but this caught me as a classic understatement....

The thread starts off with -> "So, my 1Ds took a tumble, guess it was just a matter of time." and then we get a clarification of the word "tumble" :-o

I just can't imagine taking a 1Ds into that environment. It would take forever to remove all the dust spots from the images you brought back!!

I read a story about Catherine Leroy getting shot in Vietnam and her Nikon F stopped the bullet that would likely have killed her.

Not sure many cameras are built that way anymore.

My wife had a nasty tumble with her old Yaschica SLR about 6 years ago. She was scrambling on some wet rocks at the base of a waterfall in Costa Rica when she slipped and lost her footing. She fell forward with camera strapped around her neck. Everything happened so fast that she never even has time to put her arms out in front of her to arrest her fall. Her full weight came down on the camera and the 50mm f/1.4 lens right onto the rocks. WHACK! The camera hit her in her breastbone and the lens hit the rocks. After recuperating from the shock of the fall, she checked her camera over and found the only problem was that the lense's rim had been bent (impossible to put filters on it now). It worked fine and still worked great. I don't the old digital Rebel could take such a pounding.

If you really want to make a great commercial, put some tape over the shutter button set it to continual shoot and let-er rip down the mountain taking photos all the way.

Mine's fallen from 3 or 4 feet a few times with no discernable effects. Guess I've just not raised it high enough yet to even call it a "tumble".

You could hammer nails with it.

EDIT: 'Course, I'd rather take pictures . . .
