I use PicturesToExe Deluxe - the best photo slideshow software. It is the only one program which play very smooth Ken Burns effects with a clear picture even at 1920x1080 (depending on quality of source photos). PicturesToExe can create slideshow as EXE file for PC, DVD, MP4 H.264 video file, YouTube and Vimeo.

If you want to do a DVD- ProShow Gold is great. If you want to show a slideshow on a PC or laptop- do check out PicturesToExe as suggested by Skyfinder. The images look tons better. They have a free demo version you can try out. I do an occasional DVD for people so I use ProShow Gold but if it was on a PC- I definately would use PTE. I did not see much difference between DVDs made by both programs.
