I was asked by a business client to do a shoot with her and make up a modeling portfolio and Composite card. Parts one and two are easy.... but I have no clue what a composite card is and how to make one.

Has anyone here ever did one these? What is it? How do I make one? Does it have to be printed on special paper? Do you have a sample? Any info or advice would be very helpful!

Thanks,
Lorrie

another question, what do you generally charge for something like this? I am sure some of it depends on the number of cards ordered... I was thinking something like $500 for the shoot, 50 cards, and 10 8x10's in a folder. Does that sound to high, to low?

I personally wouldn't do it for any less than that. Consider the time it takes to artwork ten 8x10's. Even if you charge $15 "per pose" for artworking (a bargain, and by this I mean retouching fly-away hairs, artworking the eyes for maximum impact, removing blemishes, etc.) and only $20 per 8x10 (again, a bargain), you're at $350 right there.

Sure there are "camera operators" that would be happy charging less, so it depends on what part of the market you want to cater to. The comparison shopper who is only looking for the cheapest price (tell them to go to Wal-Mart, Sears, JCPenney, or the local camera operator who just bought a digi-cam and thinks they are a photographer) or clientelle who really appreciate your photographic talent and the time and effort you put into generating a quality product.

Remember... price is only an issue in the absence of value.
