I apologize in advance...I hate self-serving threads like this one but I can't help it!

In exactly 50 minutes, I pick up my new (well...used, actually) 1d.

Mmmmmm!!!

Of course, I'm done shooting drag racing and rodeos for the summer but I'm sure I'll still be able find plenty to do with my new baby!!

Woot! After shooting at 8.5fps you can't go back to 3 fps LOL!

I knew it, I knew it. Back when that Googley-where-do-you-live thread with the map was going on, I saw you were up in the Guelph-ish area. I thought to myself, "drag racing & rodeos." Not that there's anything wrong with that, that's just what I thought. Well, honestly, not the drag racing part.

Years ago I was out there late one night after doing some work and we went to a cowboy bar afterwards. I had to check my coat, because it's made of leather, which I thought was an odd rule. Apparently it has something to do with bikers. I think we were the only two in the place without cowboy hats & boots on. I wish I could remember the name of the place. It has a band stage with a sunken dance area in front of it. It was pretty busy!

So what are you doing with your Rebel?

LOL, I Googled "Dusk 'til Dawn" and see you're referring to a vampire movie. Unfortunately I've never seen it. But now if I ever do I'll be searching for meaning in your post & probably break out laughing when it hits me.
:-D

Well, I picked up the camera and...yumm!

The best part is that I bought this camera without knowing the shutter count because it was a great price (and I know a shutter replacement is about $300)...well, I downloaded an exif viewer and this baby has 49,755 shots on it! That means for $1200 (about $1000 USD) I got a sweet-ass camera that easily has another 100k shots on it! And this thing is spotless!

I honestly don't know...it has warranty until December 2007 so I might just use it for low light or street photography (where I need something more subtle than my black beast) until it craps out.

I'm still trying to decide what to do with it. It's weird that a camera that I just bought one year ago and was super happy about is now relegated to 'back up' status...I'd really love for my wife to begin using it.
