Please comment on the crop...colors...distractions etc....

Original was a sunrise a few days ago. The original was somewhat dark. I used levels, curves and shadow/highlight to fix. I know it looks almost "fake" but it was the best I could do with the "dark" original.

Thanks,

KenSkid

What did the original look like? IMO, in this one, the greens are too bright for the sky color which also has a greenish tinge to it. I don't mind the purplish tinge to the sky and I like the composition.

That's the kind of comment I'm looking for...I'll work on the greens..

Thanks,

Anyone else???

Left you a comment. I actually likes the brightness of the greens. Don't you love it when people make contradictory suggestions? :-)

Yes....it drives me nuts!!! But that is the nature of ART!

I'll make another suggestion for less green.

Okay, up front, I'm not trying to be mean. I'm trying to help by pointing out how things could be better.

The general composition layout is good, but I think the individual elements lack weight. One key component of most landscapes is a great sky. The branch at the top is distracting. It really is important in landscapes to keep the composition really clean. The horizon being in the middle instead of a thirds up or down kind of leaves the image flat. Having the trees in the middle as a separation band helps, but it is cut off at the left by the large tree. The small bits of branches distract the eye while providing to little information to capture interest. Also, is it just me or is the whole image just tilted a little to the right? If not there is an optical illusion because of the weight of the larger elements on the left, and the shore getting closer on the left.

I'd encourage you to keep practicing. As with anything else, the more experience you have, the more things are just there in your head, and it'll come more naturally.
