Hello there.
I am taking a digital photo class, and my assignment is to take two portraits, and edit them in photoshop. Since i'm rather new to photography/photoshop, I was hopeing that I could get some critism here.

Patti

Chase

Please tell me what you think. Are they too over processed?

Patti's is too harsh -- in my opinion the 'half-blown' look is hard to pull off, too often (as with her left eye) some portion seems to just be floating disconnected from the rest.

Chase's is great!

I agree, the Patti image is a little to high. The left edge is gone, and has no connection to the image, and you lost important detial in her face. The other one is pretty good.

Thank you so much for your fast feedback!

I re-edited Patti: Gray Scale

Is this better? I converted to B&W, then adjusted the contrast and curves.

It is certainly better than the last version. But I did like some of the color that was there. Especially her eyes. Is it possible that you could dodge/burn/sponge selectively instead of using levels?

Hey try to sharpen it a bit more, then copy that layer and on that copied layer add gaussian blur 3. Then go to your layer menu and set it on Screen (then hit CTRL+L) and move the sliders a bit till u think it's nice.

Or don't do it hehe what u want ofcourse, just a tip :)
