I recently purchased a macro coupler and step ring to mount my 18-55 standard lense to my tamron 28-300 zoom in reverse. I was able to get this shot but the side blur real quickly. Since everything is in manual mode, how can I improve this image? This image is of the ridges on a quarter's side.
thanks,
brent

with the reverse lens, you will have a very very shallow dof as you must have noticed while focussing manually on this. all you can do is increase the F# to as far as you can go, but even that will give you only 3-4mm of dof ( this will change with if you are using 70mm or 300mm on our lens ) but the point is dof is very shallow and you have to live with it. |

I had seen this exact shot and sought out the reversal ring. I am happy with my purchase, now just need to learn how to take a better macro on interesting subject matter.

Zoom lenses by the nature of their design do not work well in this capacity, especially in the role of the reversed lens. Ideally the reversed lens should be a wide-angle to normal prime lens. The wider the reversed lens the greater the magnification. |
