Give me snapshots over a lot of other pictures. Sure sunsets, scenics, etc may be more pleasing but 10 years from now they will probably be basicly the same. A snapshot of the son or daughter as a baby, pictures of loved ones who are no longer with us, or other things like your first love, first car, etc. These are memories

I love this! LOL

I think so too. Someone here uses that as their signature line.

Why does it have to be one or the other? I think it's contextual. Snapshots are great for memories, but not necessarily the best to show off photographic skill. And, although non-snapshots CAN involve memories, they are probably more for the art of it all ... the skill ... the challenge. I liked what others said about snapshots versus candids and personal relationships. All good stuff. But I refuse to say one is better. I choose both, for they both certainly have their places in life.

Oh yeah, I'm finding multiple versions of that quote:
"...nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept."
"...nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept."
Both accredited to Ansel. I found a lot more "sharp" than "brilliant."

This is what I think too. I dont condemn studio or special shots, but they just dont carry much meaning or memory for me.
