For several years now I have collected studio photography equipment, as the price was right and the budget worked. One year ago, I bought a new house for one reason: studio space!
I now have a 22X21' studio space that I have:
Painted white (5 gallons!!!) $100
Equipped with 6 back drops on one 3 bg chain system ($99 on ebay, includes 3 backdrops),
one 12X20' bg (borrowed from a friend) and
2 home made bgs ($10.00)
Equipped with 2 Alien Bees, B400, one 24X24 soft box and 2 umbrellas ($600)
and probably a few little things that don't come to mind just now.
Today, I finish the studio with the addition of:
Manfrotto tripod with ball mount ($250)
1 12X20 hand painted muslin bg from Amvona.com <--- good deal!!!
($159)
1 Dylan bg support, heavy duty ($129)
1 AB Halogen spot (Ebay $99)
Black and White 12X12 tiled studio floor ($390)
Total: $1836-ish
I think I'm set! :)
Moral of my story, its taken a lot of saving in the studio piggy bank, I made a list and prioritized between what I need and what I want. I'm sure I'll always find more toys, but my basic studio is now my dream! Next...........new cameras! :)
Oh! And today I put a $40 bid on a fog machine ;)
