hi all,
I was wondering if anybody could give me some pointers on good locations to get some shots in either of these countries. I'll be in travelling for thirty days, and plan on spending the first 2 weeks in China, and eventually backpacking my way through Laos to Thailand. My plane leaves on Friday and can't wait to get out of here, but want to make sure that I'm well prepared.

any advice would be greatly appreciated!
thx,
d.

The WHOLE area is a BIG photo op...you won't have trouble filling your cards and Portable storage devices...I assume you have some kind of big portable HD to store your photos in? Nothing worse than running out of storage space in such exotic locations.

Question....

I was actually going to bring up a similar thread. I and my fiance are considering Thailand as one potential place to go for our honeymoon.

My question, is it reasonably safe to bring my 20D & lenses. I am just curious about risk, theft, mugging, etc. And at the same time it seems like it would be the perfect place to use my 70-200mm & 12-24mm lenses?

I was in Thailand a year and a half ago. I never felt threatened or unsafe traveling anywhere around Bangkok, Chang Mai or Ayuttaya (the only places I visited in Thailand). The Thai people were extremely friendly and I had great time interacting with those to whom I spoke. The Thai government was having problems with some Islamic separationist groups in southern Thailand during the time of my visit, though those problems seemed to not affect the resort areas.

(As a side note, I'm also 6'4" and 230 lbs. I was always the largest person in any room I entered. Additional humerous side note, while I was very tall for Thailand, I was a giant in Cambodia. One Cambodian, who, like most, came up to just below my shoulder, made a joke of how he wouldn't dare threaten me or else I'd surely pick him up by the neck and throw him to the side.)
