I have always found the concept of not using the whole scale somewhat strange. Surely a photo good enough to win should recieve a 10. A photo with NO redeeming qualities should likewise recieve a 1. There may not be many entries that fall in either category but surely with hundreds of entries its not difficult to find a few that deserve a 10 or a 1. Scoring is relative - 10 means "better than almost every other photo" not necessarily "perfect"

Another thought - imagine the scores only went from 1 to 3. Presumably the same people that won't vote 1 or 10 in the current system would also refuse to give anyone a 1 or a 3 in this system - they would then give every entry a 2, completely pointless!

[/end rant]

I don't always give out tens
as they are reserved for photos that are tens
there are lots of photos that are tens on this site and some challenges will have 4 or 5 of them
but if my top pick in a challenge is not as good (in my opinion) as tens in previous challenges I have voted on then I won't give a ten

If I like it I vote it high, if I don't I vote it low.
