Just the other day I found this article on dpreview about firmware v1.1 for the coolpix 990.

So, I checked my camera, and it was version 1.0 - And that article was published in 2000!

5 years too late, I upgraded to v1.1 - And what a difference! White balance is excellent, auto-focus is noticably improved, and playback/review is *much* faster (as is the wait time between shots)

Any coolpix owners reading this, I'd advise making sure you have the latest firmware. You might be pleasantly surprised at the improvements.

Lot's of digiscopers use the Coolpix 990.
