Jaysus Ken... I guess I was so tripped out on LSD and 'shrooms that I have completely forgotten I had Karma's great-grandmother in the 60's...

LMAO! I'm at work, sorta bored, have a backache, but you guys are cracking me up! All "Joey's" house needs is Norman Bate's mom sitting behind the window curtain in her rocker ...

And I do love Robert's house too.

... waiting on Ken to put someone's ass in the front window and call it a crack house ...

Hi Rob! Since your home has a very sweet farm-home quality, I chose a deep red with bright white trim. The paint job isn't very neat, maybe you'll use better contractors ;)

Hey Muck - I like the sort of slate blue you have - I just don't think it goes with that green. I would keep the main color and find something more complimentary for the gables. Highly contrasting trim is like you have in this is good also.

I like this one alot:

Maybe a slightly darker tone for the gables. I tried to do something with beige or tan, but mucked it up (forgive the expression) and just decided tie-dye would be easier. ;-)

Here's mine. My favorite look is when they paint the gable shingles 3 different colors in alternating rows. Didn't take the time to show that, but it looks really neat.

PS Your house would look really cute with white shutters too.

you have great colors in the tiles in your kitchen..and beautiful dark warm colors inside yourhouse...so you dont want to put pastels on the outside... try picking out similar colors to these from your tiles inthe kitchen

Nice, Di! Looks like an Adirondak cabin. :)
I think dark colors make small houses look smaller which is why I avoided putting the heavier colors on the bottom of my paint jobs.
(I wonder if "mucky" is a good cook....)

//www.victorianhouserestoration.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=12&pos=2 is colors similar... //www.victorianhouserestoration.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=5&pos=10 is a variation which would take the dark from teh main body of the house
//www.victorianhouserestoration.com/gallery/albums/userpics/House02/wpbalusterreplacement.JPG is gold body cream trim and burgandy eves

His interior colors are deep rich colors... which might look odd with pastels on the outside...The tiles in the kitchen are gorgeous! (which he hasnt gotten on his web site yet!!)

Di, I didn't mean to put you on the defensive. I like Adirondak cabins. :-)
You're right, those are traditional colors for Victorian houses....however, all of the examples you posted are of much larger houses. I live in a city filled with Victorian Era houses, many with those types of colors--but I can't think of one that is less than 2 stories high.
(There is a cute little house a couple of blocks from me that is a lucious plum purple--I should go take a picture of it. I'm sure Muckpond would hate it.)
As for matching the colors inside:
Yes, it would reflect personal choices and may be pleasing to the owner.
No, your neighbors spend a great deal more time looking at your house than you ever will.
Maybe, if you don't think you'll have to re-paint it before you sell it.
(How's that for indecisiveness?)

Thank you Mucky, I've completely wasted my aftenoon!! :-) These may suck but man this was fun! Most of these are pretty conservative I guess. You could probably get away with going bolder with a smaller house like that.

I feel the need to paint my house now, damn it!! :-(

I'm going to paint my house HOT PINK with BRIGHT PURPLE trim just to tick off my nosey neighbors, hehehe. They already complain to the Village about my house all the time, now to give them something to really complain about, LOL

Just a photoshop tip - when you edit the image, if you create a new layer for each of the 3 items (siding, trim, gables) on top of each of those original layers respectively, then CTRL+click on the original layer to mask/select the areas and fill it with a color - CHANGE the blending mode on the layer palette so the "paint" blands in and the siding shows through. Try different blending modes for different effects. Have fun.
