I've never been comfortable photographing people, let alone myself, but I gave it a shot today and this is what I came up with. Since joining DPC my photo shyness seems to be ebbing...just a little. Any comments or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I like it. I would probably have given a 7 or 8 in the portrait challenge.

I noticed in the notes you had your camera set to shoot in sepia. With the levels adjustment I assume you have Photoshop. Never shoot in sepia....you can always change it once you have it in Photoshop. The photo looks good either way. I like the composiiton and the fact the the camera is in the shot is great imo on this one. It really shows at least to me that you were having fun doing this.

Edit: Only thing I would change is try to position yourself so you have a solid background. I would probably give you a 6

Thank you chaimelle and rex. Good advice about shooting in sepia. I didn't realize I actually had that feature on my little Nikon coolpix so was playing around with it (and the cyan and bw). You're right about being able to change it in Photoshop. Good idea about the solid background. :)
