Hello all,

I survived Katrina and have begun snapping again. Just thought you all would like to see one of the "famous" pumping stations and floodwall that have been talked about on the news for the past 3 weeks.

This station is about 2 miles from my home in Kenner, La. If this floodwall would have been breached, my home would have had 8-10 feet of water in it. As it is, this floodwall (20ft high from the flat ground) was not breached or overtopped. However, the waterline on the other side shows that if a storm ever hits with the eye 5 miles west of New Orleans, Katrina will look like a spring shower. Remember, the city of New Orleans was on the "weak" side of this storm and very little storm surge entered Lake Pontchartrain.

One shot is of the side of the station. The shot with the water in it shows the "flow" of water as it enters the Lake to my "rear". On the other side of the station, you can see a local social security office. You cannot see the canal leading to the station from the "neighborhood".

Enjoy...
