well i've always wanted to take a pic of these bails that dot the fields so i went tonight to take a quick snap but the sun had disappeared behind a big ugly cloud so there was none of the light shining on the bails that i hoped for.. so the only option was filters :)
How's this one?(apart from the off-horizon, should of fixed that in PS *too lazy*)

The horizon is also almost exactly in the center of the image. Sure that can work for some shots, but your sky isnt exactly great so cropping out most of the sky and putting the horizon on a third will help the composition some. You could try doing the filter on another layer and playing with the opacity so the effect is not as strong. I guess it depends if you like it that way or not. |

thanks for the replies..
I didn't like the sky myself, looks a bit nuclear lol.
Needs a bit more TLC, think i just need to take my time over the shots and think about them a lot more instead of rushing in. Going to dedicate tomorrow going out and about for some thoughtful shots (hopefully)
the original:

Dude - those aren't hay bales. It's giant Shredded Wheat, and from the looks of it, those are free range shredded wheats!
;)
Love the colors in the foreground, and I agree with buzzrock about the sky.

Actually, I really like your finished shot--very impressionistic. The centered horizon doesn't bother me at all and the sky is very dramatic--perhaps too dramatic. My only suggestion is to tone done the contrast of the sky to make the transitions between colors a little more subtle. |

A little messy on the 640px size image but you get the idea. |
