Hey, who uses Mpix for ordering prints? How about having photo finishing done with them, you like the outcome? I have toured the place and it was exciting to see how so many photos are printed and/or finished...I have read that few on here in DPC have used them any more thoughts?

I've used them a few times and have been very pleased, fast shipping and fairly low costs. First time I ordered from them, I ordered on a thursday, they shipped on Friday and I recieved them on Saturday.

The only thing negative I've heard about them are on the subject of their Canvass Prints. I haven't used them personally (yet), but I've heard nothing but good things about all their other services.

A while ago I ordered their sample pack. The quality was VERY nice and it gives a great idea of what they offer. |

I just finished a bride/groom 8x10 book, and 3 5x7 parents books with prints from mpix. I did the metallic paper and I'm here to tell you it blows away anything you've seen at your local drug store and even ezprints.
I like the professional feel from their prints. I have also done just the standard paper as well and am very pleased with the color and contrast of the prints. I highly recommend them, and don't plan on using any other service for my client's prints.

I use them regularly for large prints and odd sized prints. I a completely pleased with their services and products. I have had prints enlarged to 16x20 and they look great. I have a 5MP camera and no pixelating or grain. Wonderful colors and crispness. Shipping is super fast. I usually get my prints, including large 16x20's within 3-4 days after I upload and order. I know I can count on them if I need large prints done well and quickly.

I can't say enough here about Mpix. Great quality for low cost. Packaging and shipping are excellent. On a few of my orders, I've uploaded and ordered one day and had them in my hand the next day by 3pm. I've printed up to 16x20 and clients were VERY happy with the results. I haven't tried the stretched canvas mount yet with them, I've heard mixed reviews on that. My only problem is that if you use their different "fancy" papers along with the regular paper, they have to be on separate orders, and that means separate shipping costs. So I've used just regular b/w on mixed orders and those have been fine. |

I have used mpix many times in the past. Great service, great quality. The only drawback now (and on several other processing sites) is there is a time limit before your photos are deleted. I am exclusively using DPCPrints now. For my $25 annual fee, so far no one has threatened to remove my prints. It's worth it to me to use them for my photos' safekeeping. I also love the Fuji paper and have read better comments about it than about Kodak paper.
For prints on watercolor paper (I have yet to try canvas) I use finerworks.com

I thought about using their services about 4 months ago. I wished I had with one of my print for a art show. Now that I know that offered great prints with great prices, muchness with the different finishing styles. I was just amazed with what I can do with a finished a print.
Then they were offering a job opening I noticed and went through 3 weeks of interviews and waiting. I was hired by them yesterday. In which is great news. Then I stopped for a moment and thought, how many folks I know through DCP uses Mpix services? Hmm, I'll be working on YOUR photos...to me this, this strange. because I have been a member for about 3 years and seen so many great photos. Now I get the chance to help you produce great prints to your likings. So I thought to ask before I went to bed last night.

Cool! Congratulations! I'd ask for a discount ;-), but frankly, they're pretty cheap already. Best of luck on the new job! |

Thanks!!...the job market here in Columbia, MO is crazy and very high, I have been without a job for 2 months next week. This also came a problem with the influx of people from the LA, MS coming up to find a place to live and find jobs and College Students are back. I was blessed to have this job with Miller's Professional Images (Mpix) and it so happens to be something I have a passion for. I was about to settle for a janitor job. However, I'm wanting to know about discounts for myself and wondering if this a perk for employees, but a question I wouldn't dare to ask in the interview process...my eye's are bugging! :) Walking through the production or finishing area was like waking through Photoshop CS...call me weird. :)

I use MPIX.com exlusively for all my printing. I don't own a photo printer anymore i've been so impressed with the results I get from using MPIX.com.
I'll the second the comment from the other poster regarding the metallic paper. I wouldn't use it for every type of scene... but it can add a little something extra to a nice photograph... I especially like it with landscapes.
I've gotten prints from 4x6 up to 20x30 done by them and have been impressed with the results everytime... the quality of the 20x30 was especially impressive.
The 20x30 also shipped flat, not rolled up. So the print was nice and flat when it arrived rather than curled from shipping in a tube. The packaging did a great job of protecting it, and it was shipped via FedEx (and thus insured) if anything went wrong during shipping.
Here is the shot I got the 20x30 of:
They ship real fast also. I ordered the 20x30 at 4pm and when I got into the office at 9am the NEXT DAY... it was already there.
If you get anything printed on the regular paper (non metallic), I highly recommend paying the extra fee for the luster coating.

Wow... pretty cool. What exactly will you be doing for MPix.com? Photo retouching? |

Yes. the metallic paper did in-fact pop out at me when I saw the results in person...just amazing paper that Kodak put out there. I'm looking more and more towards getting print done. For the longest time my photos have rested on a hard drive and I believe it's time to bring them alive and put on my walls...or others....
I have seen a canvas print from an artist during an art show last Spring called, "Art in the Park." At first I thought is was oil painting, but then looked closer it was indeed a photo printed unto canvas, with other finishing touches. Just amazing I thought. I don't know that Millers done this print, However, I need to have a closer look at the product....

I wish, photo retouching is another department. There are about over 50 plus Macs working on photos for spot editing and color correcting needs. I'll be in that department hopefully someday. As everything else in life you must start near the bottom. However, I 'll be working with a few of the greatest artist that this area has to offer to finish your photo that photoshop can't. Including framing and matting....
They originayl were hiring for a person to collect the prints from the printer and ship them out...Kind of a mundane job, but happy to be able to work in the photography filed, none-the-less. Then to my amazement, they ended up hiring me to work in another department which requires more skills. I'm guessing I have talent..:) This department is the finishing department, before this one is the photo touch-up and anything relating to preparing a photo(s) for output.....

I like MPix for large runs but usually do small print runs in-house. I also had used them a lot for canvas prints and was very pleased until i switched to FinerWorks which was more affordable and better quality.
