In trying to adjust the levels and contrast on this photo, I realized the background was getting rather blue....which disturbed me at first. But then when I opened it up this morning, I kinda dug it. Now that I look at it again, I'm not so sure.
Is the blue background just too weird??
And does anyone have tips for how to adjust it? I tried an adjustment layer with Color Balance, but I couldn't get it to work quite right. The only post processing for this shot was: Levels, Contrast, Color Balance, Sharpen
Thanks!

did you try hue/saturation/lightness settings? Usually you can select just the color you want and adjust it. I don't personally thing the image is bad the way it is. Your eye does tend to get drawn back there but not too bad.

I'm fine with the blue, but I would definitely clone out that hole on the flower petal. |

Hmm, I hadn't thought about the holes....good point. Should be easy enough to clone out. And sabphoto, thanks for the tip on Hue/Saturation.
Still trying to decide if I like the contrast between the yellow and the blue... |

Yeah, that's fine. If you wantr to play with the blue, make an adjustment layer for selective color and alter the color balance in the blue and cyan channels to suit.
"Color Balance" is a weak tool, a short cut. A combination of selective color and hue/saturation is nearly always better, sometimes you only need one of them.
