I have got comments that my image looks grainy, and it should be smoothened. I resize the challenge images to 640 pixels, Max. File size 150 KB. How can I smoothen images, within these limits?

It depends on several things, did you use higher iso or is it a crop? these 2 things would increase the grain. As for reducing it you need to use a program like Neat Image or Noise Ninja to reduce it. I find it better to do this before reducing the image size.

Neat Image. Is it available with Adobe Photoshop? Can it be downloaded online? I am using Adobe Photoshop 5.5.

Free download at Neatimage.com. The free version can only output to jpeg.

There's a plugin version but is compatible with PS7 and up.

Grain and noise are fun!

I always get comments saying my photos are grainy, but I love grain, and noise. But that's just me.

I say if you're happy with the photo, then just keep it the way it is. No need to fix it.

It depends upon the subject matter.
I repeat my question. Any tutorials please?
