I forgot to ask - I'm not good with other languages - what does the title mean? Is it the type of tree, it might help understand the image better if I knew what the title meant. |

Great picture, but the lamppost is to centered. Do you know about the rule of thirds? I love the green against the dark bark and the detail in the leaves. This would look good without the lamppost in my oppinion.

But I think this photo is "made" by the spreading "arms" of the tree. At least with this size/crop, I think it has to be centered. Besides, the lamppost seems to be eclipsing/substituting for a central trunk of the tree. It would completely change the composition to have four vertical elements, so absent removing the lamppost, I think this is a clever workaround.
BTW--I can't find the citation nor remember who said it, but it was a letter which went something like "I was pleased to hear of the publicatation of your last book, until I realized you meant your latest book."

You know GeneralE, I think your right about it being center. It would look odd if off center. I really don't think I like the post at all in the picture. I do love the tree like I said before. Keep shooting.

Alexis, I think it is a very pretty picture. The softness of the leaves, which almost look like grapes, combined with the sharpness of the pole and the color combinations make for a relaxing view. Almost like looking to Heaven. Welcome to dpc.
General....Now thats funny. I think it was Will Rogers.

Rogers was the guy a "never met a man he DIDN'T like," so it would be out of character for him. I think it was one of the more misanthropic philosophers, Bierce, Wilde, or Shaw. But I searched some quote databases and couldn't find it right away, so I gave up for now. It's also possible it was a line in a fictional work. |
