Well, just as I got the hang of shooting some low light photos with not that much noise on the 828 it needs to go back to Sony for a cf card issue so I won't be posting any photos here for a while.

In the meanwhile I'll only have 2 film slr's that I'll be having a play with prior to getting a new cam later this year or early next. I'm borrowing a pentax and a canon film camera, so that should provide some learning.

That's a bummer.
If you feel like sharing how to do low lights without noise on the F828, I'll be audiance :)

I am sure someone here can send you a couple of CF cards if you need them.

OR is it camera problems?

Just discovered that it may only be a cf card prob rather than the cam so I may not be out of action.

The best plan I've worked out for low lights without noise is to shoot raw. When you do that, even the jpeg is fairly noiseless (at least compared to usual without shooting raw.

I also just realised you can shoot small jpegs when shooting raw, fwiw.
