Been operation ps since the beginning with my home PC and 256 MB RAM. Slow and relatively frequent freezes and odd times crashes. Added 516MB today and I can't get over it......the difference is awesome!! PS is fun!!

LOL I'm still on dialup here so used to starting something, going making coffee, cleaning a fish tank or two and then coming back to the computer! With a 3gig processor and broadband the fish tanks would never get cleaned!!

what spec is your machine, ie cpu/video card etc.
reason I ask is that I built up my own one here in NZ, buying the gear via trademe, way cheaper than one off shelf, ended up with P4 3 gig, 1 gig of ram, 256meg video card dvd burner etc, for under $1000 |

Photoshop is one the few programs that will use all RAM it can get. There is no such thing is too much RAM for PS.
Enjoy your "new" PC.

not really sure Ray....just a packard bell basic home pc. Since new have added graphics card, CPU (? fan thingi that lets more power through I think) had 256, now 768 mb RAM. My computer building skills are more than a little lacking....they're bout on a par with my cooking skills (and I burn baked beans).
thanks Nick :-)
