I just got several prints of mine that I ordered from DPCPrints. Have you honestly ever just been impressed with yourself? LOL I mean...they did such a great job with the printing, and the results just make me ask myself "Did I really take that!? Wow!" I am extremely happy with the way they turned out. It's nice to see them on the monitor, but in print I think makes such a big impact.

If you ever get that "burned out" feeling with photography, order one of your prints. It really makes me want to create more.

Has any one else had that kind of feeling - proud to be the creator of some really great stuff? Please tell me I'm not the only prideful one here! :)

I will say that being active here at DPC has helped so very much in paying attention to developing photos and photographic ideas. I still have a lot to learn, but feel like I've really come a long way with what I can do now.

I sold my first print a few weeks ago and the guy emailed me when he got them and said "wow."

I'm really anxious to order one of my own now and see just how good I am.

I felt that way when I got my "Spreading Her Wings" printed. I just couldn't believe that I actually took it. This site has taught me so much. I would still be a snapshot photographer without it...

I just got two of mine printed for a showing and i loved them the fist time i saw them. I was as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs waiting to see them.

seeing them (heck even thinking how they looked in print)makes me want to run out and shoot a ton more!

I got the prints to take up to the credit union where we bank. It's a city employee's credit union and they have had some prints from a local photographer up in their lobby forever. My husband is a city employee and I asked about framing some of mine to display since I have several that are of local interest. I received an enthusiastic "Please do! We are tired of looking at the same old thing." I don't know if the other guy ever sold a thing by hanging them there, but I thought it would be cool anyway.

Now that I actually see the results, once I frame them, it will be hard to place a price on them. I don't want to undersell myself, but I don't want to overprice them either. In any case, I've always enjoyed the "marketing" end of things...one of the reasons I'm a good Realtor. And it has crossed my mind that my name will become more familiar which will help with the real estate career as well. Who wouldn't want a decent photographer when selling your home?

Anyway, I'm going to hit up some of the offices uptown as well...lawyers, banks, doctors, etc. who always seem to have these types of prints in the waiting areas.

It's wonderful to have this creative outlet, the good feelings that come from accomplishing something even other folks enjoy.

By the way...a humorous little side note to being the wife of a city employee...

We have a beautiful monument downtown that has been there for a long time and is used in the logo of our city. I have photographed it a few times now, and last time I noticed that the city had installed a street light right on that corner, which makes it very difficult to get a nice straight-on shot of the monument. Beynond that, the monument is at the western edge of our "High St", so that as you come down that main drag, the view is of the monument at the end, just before you cross the bridge. I was a little upset that they put that light there and, in my opinion, ruined the view.

Well, last year they began to rebuild that bridge. It's a huge project and is still far from completion. From various events I have photographed, I have become known to the lady in charge of the visitors bureau here in town. When they started the rebuilding, I sent her an email asking if she knew if they were going to relocate that streetlight and why I thought it should be moved. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I figured...since they were doing that big project anyway. It was not an official request or anything, just an observation that I thought I would share with someone in a capacity to perhaps reach those in charge.

Well...my husband came home the next night and asked if I had made a request to the city to move a streetlight! It seems the request took on a life of it's own - that this crazy woman wanted a $10,000 street light moved just to take pictures! His boss came to him and asked if that was his wife? (My hubby works for the utilities dept.) Needless to say, the streetlight still stands, my husband got a laugh out of it (he knows me too well!), and the city at least now knows my name.

I don't think it's a bad thing. However if that streetlight gets vandalized, I'm likely to be taken in for questioning!

:) I need to get me some of those fun smilies.
