Okay, tell me if you agree.
When communicating online, I feel that simply saying "lol" does not allude to the actual amount of funniness. Lol can range from a small chuckle to a crazy cackling that rivals the laughter of Vizzini from The Princess Bride.
I have made this scale that shows the degree of funniness involved in Lol-ing. I have left out third-party sayings such as "rofl" or "lmao" as I do not believe in these.
It is as follows:
If you think something is funny but do not physically laugh, then you can say: "Heh" "Hah" "Hehe" ":)" ":-p" (and if necessary "teehee").
If your stomach is stimulated and you do that kind of seated belly laugh that is inaudible the following is acceptable: "Ha!" "haha" "hahahaha" "omg"
If you do the nose-laugh (ya'll know what I'm talking about we all do it... when you exhale quickly through your nostrils) it is at this time when the following are acceptable: "lol" "oh man hah" "lol!" "omg!" "that's hilarious", etc.
If you engage in an audible laugh that causes vibrations of the vocal chords then you may use the rare but effective: "lolll" with the amount of l's ranging from the length of hysterics you go through as you keep your finger pressed down on the L-key.
That is all.
