What causes a purple fringe in digital photos?
I searched the forums and found a few sketchy answers (under-exposed, too much white in a pic - change metering mode) but nothing definitive. Can anyone help please? Thank you in advance. I will hang up now and listen to your answers. |

A crappy lens, wide aperture and strong light along a hard contrast edge or something shiny.

Actually on some lenses it would get worse with narrower aperture.

Yeah it needs some serious updating. :)
Sure there are some top lenses where the CA is a compromise to get other strengths out of it or the lens system hasn't been updated for a while. But for most camera's/lenses the basic cause is partly a crap/cheap lens design. IMHO.
