the open challenge ends and voting starts on Tuesday 12am.
For me, it is Wednesday 12pm (GMT +8)
So what one day, I shoot a photo at Wednesday 11am my time, and when the judges checked my original photo, DQ me for taking the photo AFTER the challenge date? Will I get to defend myself? Lets not forget that for me, the new challenge starts on a Wednesday 12pm too. So I'm getting equal time as everyone else. How do you guys deal with this? |

If you do ever get pulled up on your exif date then simply tell the judges what time zone you're in. I'm sure they're aware that some of us can take shots 'after' the closing date, and we are entitled to equal time. I actually doubt you would ever get asked.
Don't worry about it.

Germany is (at the moment) six hours ahead. I Like it this way. It means I don't have to stay up till 12 to see the challenge results or the new challenge topic. I don't think we have less time to complete the challenge, remember, the judges go on the date and time on your camera. If it is set to your local time, then you don't have a problem. As far as I know, nobody takes time zones into consideration when checking the validity of your entry. If the date says it was taken within the timeframe, then it is ok.
Edit
Ok, misunderstood your question. I think Bod is right.

come to think of it, it's not possible to submit a photo AFTER the closing time. But I just think that this is something that had to be addresses, just in case.
Martus, the EXIF data on my camera will show Wednesday because that is the time zone I'm in, and of course, my camera follows MY time :) |

Yup, I never thought of that! That's why I edited my first post. I only realised what you meant after I made the first post. :)

We are aware of the time zone issue. The starting and ending times of the challenge are midnight DPChallenge time. DPC is located in the US-Eastern time zone (EST5EDT), which is UTC-05:00 during the winter and UTC-04:00 in the summer.
Or, if you don't want to do the math, the official site time is located at the bottom of each page on the site.
In dealing with disqualification requests we do allow for the time zone difference.
