Hi , I bought an DSC-M1 3 months ago. Last week I was in a boat and as I was getting out of the boat close to the ramp I slid and fell on water, I had my camera on its case and the case with the camera were inside of a bag that i was carrying. Also my cell phone was there but the cell phone was on and it did not survive. The camera though, was inside of its case but got wet, my brother automatically took out the battery and the memory card, when we got home my brother was the camera with regular water and told me to put it in a dry place for a day or 2 . I tried that for a couple of days but when i started the camera, the camera started but nothing came up on the LCD also the the cover of the lens was open ( which is regularly closed when the camera is off) . So the camera starts but can't see anything on the lcd nor can take pictures or do anything. I was thinking to send it to Sony to see if the warranty might fix it . Otherwise they told me that if the camera is dropped in water the warranty would not cover it? My question if the camera was washed with regular water and let it dry is there any way they might know? they say that the cost to fix it is $171 if repairable do you think is fixable. Please do let me know. I am desesperate for some information. ( the camera will go out tomorrow to a sony repair center along the the warranty and receipt)
I would appreciatte any information you can give me ..Thanks
