I am voting and commenting on the portrait challenge, some of my comments have been a little critical of some entries, they are of course only my opinions.
Is there a link between these and my entry dropping like a stone from 6.5 to 5.7?
does the content of ones portfolio show ones challenge entry ?
just wondering about it

Please continue the comments, good or bad! I've only had 2 comments in the last 2 challenges. It seems only photos that do well get comments...

Well mine also dropped 1/2 point, but I have been only making happy, positive comments. I think it is just some voters out before their daily caffeine fix:)

I've noticed that my colour portrait entry shows in my portfolio. But maybe that is only for when I view the page. I'm not sure as this is only my second challenge.

No, your challenge entry is hidden while voting. Unless, you have already posted your image to personal website. I have encountered a few challenge shots taken and where on peoples personal website while voting was in progress. It happens.

Your score will fluctuate up and down and totally drive you insane after awhile. this is normal. Consider that there are many type of people who may love, hate, or just skip your entry.

However...........you can always remain hidden while voting through the use of your preference setting...

Oh, if someone can't a hadle a little criticism on their photo in how to improve or what not, they have issues...So don't take it personally...if ever they do. Just be honest and be constructive when voting.

thanks dustin, I thought so, I tend to shoot from the lip a little but try to be fair , I have my dislikes one in particular is how eyes are directed in portraits, I believe the iris should be centered and the eyes should follow the diection of the face being traditional in that way I hate eyes that look as if they are on stalks and speak my mind accordingly.

Your welcome. I see your point about dislikes. That's fair. I personally like the opposite. They appear to be more creative and the model is speaking with his/her eyes. It depends however. Your thoughts how a portraits is some to be composed works best too in other ways.

You will also find that your score will fluctuate substantially (at least it can anyway) until it's been scored around 100 times. Once you get to that point it should stabilize a bit. You are going to see fluctuations based on time zones and demographics (this is a global community) as well. Good luck.
