I am trying so hard to get better at bird photos. I can officially say that "I SUCK" LOL. Can someone see if they can make these look any better.
Much appreciated
Lisa

It looks like both photos were taken under tough lighting conditions. I would try again when there is more even light (morning/evening)...your results will be much better.

Lisa,

to be brutally honest, you need better captures. Start by choosing a point of view and a time of day that gives you better lighting. One thing you can try is setting up with a tripod and a remote, prefocusing on the spot where the birds will be, and sitting quitely and waiting for them to wander in to your field of view.

Neither of these images seems to me to warrant any extensive photoshop rescue efforts.

Too true, i am just impatient. :) I thought they were unsaveable, but i thought i would ask the experts.
Thanks for your input :)

I would have to agree with bear on this one. A faster shutter speed may have helped. But considering the static conditions I understand it may not have been possible - you usually only get one chance with birds. Patience and a tripod may be your best friends here.

This is probably not what you've been looking for, but I was in the mood to tinker a bit in Photoshop...

I'm not really sure what style of photograph you were going for, but here is my representation of your photograph.

Color photography isn't generally given the leniency in technical details that black and white is, so I converted to B&W using the channel mixer. You could probably find a better combination than I did to bring the crow out if you sit down with it for a while. I also added a little grain, but that may not have been necessary. Basically, I thought this was a great photo for the "artsy grunge" look, but if you were going for the crisp, clean, color photography style, then you may fair best by taking the advice of those who posted before me.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. I'm no expert, so please feel free to disregard my comments as you see fit.
