Wow..just checked up on this and I see that 51 comments have been given. Awesome to all that are helping. Thanks so much. What an awesome thing it would be to get everyone who asked for one a crit.

We knocked it down quite a bit, but with the challenge change over, it's back up to 410 waiting for crits. I didn't get to do any today due to some personal reasons, but still promise to pluck away at the total throughout the week.
Should be the shoes entries up in queue now. That should be fun.

I just wanted to come in and say the work you guys do is phenomenal, and the help ya'll in the CC initiate is what makes this site over-the-top awesome. You guys have my applause for all its worth.

I'll be getting on some shortly. I have to do my part to counter-balance the strong opinions I tend to voice in the forums. heh.

I really don't know anything about the Critique Club's methods or how this is worked into this website, but I thought of an Idea whereby a person can only request a CC on pictures once every ## months.

I know that if I was faced with this, I would consider much more carefully asking for this kind of help. Otherwise, just let regular posters critique during challenges. I believe this would probably keep the numbers down.

People will ask for critiques naturally for different reasons. Making them think hard about those reasons might both make your tasks easier and less.

Perhaps those with average scores of less than 4 or 5 might get more CC requests?

Just wanted to say a quick thanks to those who have contacted me with interest in joining the CC. Every bit helps.
eschelar-I don't think we need to lessen the amount of people who receive help, we just need to increase the ammount of people giving it. If I could...I would personally go through and give every one of them a critique, but time just doesn't allow for it. With more people helping out, I feel that it wouldn't be a problem.

Heather,

A quick thank you to you for reminding me that I do this and what I do it for. I only commented on a few but will try to do at least a few every day now.

Hey Heather when you get a chance could you let me know how many CC's I have contributed? Thanks and I will continue to do as many as possible.

I have heard the call and answered it!

The newest member of the Critique Club just made her first "critique"...o.k. really long comment....

Just a thought. I check the critique box for every submission.

But when I get five or more comments, I uncheck the box, as I usually can get the picture (so to speak) by then.

That said, I guess I'll toddle over to the Critique Club and sign up...

I haven't done one for a LONG time. Time to jump back in with a few...starting tomorrow. It's too late tonight. I'd be interested to know how many I've done in the past.

Thanks, Heather, for lighting the fire again.

Is there any way to read others critiques to get an idea of how I might improve my critiques?

click one of these people's names here who has been doing critiques.
when you are on their profile page, click under comments 'made'
there you will see all their comments they have made to images, including their critiques.

Hi there. A few nights back in a very nice thread complimenting someone for their critiques given, a challenge was brought up that to repay her for her help to others, that we should give her some crits. Well, she ended up getting close to 100 critiques in her profile in a short period of time. (last I checked)

I'm now asking for help from Critique Club members (or even people who are not currently CC's but could possibly join) This week, there were 356 requests for CCs. Only 15 have been done.
Could someone please join me in trying to reduce this number.
I would really like to see it reduced greatly.
I will personally be working on this all day Sunday to get as many CC's done as possible.
Anyone?

Edit to add...
Please contact
Konador
Or
Manic
To join the CC. Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Gee, I signed up this morning, and have already done 5 critiques. Careful folks, it's like peanuts. You can't do just one...

I want to personally thank a few people (ok 35 or so) for their help so far in contributing to the CC in the last week or so. A HUGE thanks goes out to
karmat, troberge, sjcarter, philos31, jtf6agent, artyste, mandyturner, leaf, bear music, tristalisk, nshapiro, amber, gaurawa, rgo, brianlh, tranquil, travis99, awpollard, mesmeraj, mcrochip, jutilda, mycelium, sfalice, rex, chiqui74, ddng, dahkota, vfwlkr, kadi, pedro, smilebig3me1x, Idowse, rich, kiwichris, AND judi

Thanks guys for your crits, your interest in the CC and for your time as well. I got an overwhelming response to this thread. I believe we did close to 200 Crits in the last couple days. I would really love to keep this trend up. To all who have shown interest, I hope you continue to help in any way possible.
If we all do only 1 crit a day for a month, that's over 1000 people we've helped.
I think what I'll do is post a weekly thread regarding the CC and post stats and such. For example, how many crits were given that week, how many requests we had etc.
What do you guys think? Will it help add interest? Act as a reminder to everyone that the CC still exists and we need help? Any other suggestions?
09/14/2005 02:52:50 AM · #49
I think a weekly thread is an excellent idea...it keeps the momentum going, makes Critique Club members remember to do it and reminds them why they are going it. Seeing how much effort people put in and how worthwhile it is may attract others to join too. Sometimes we just assume others are doing it and slip out of the habit;) This thread has reminded me that we are all needed to contribute and how I am once again benefiting from just doing them.

Amber, thanks for the reply. I've been wanting to give away a gift membership too...maybe this would be a good way to do that. somehow tie in giving away a gift membership with the CC.
Any ideas on what you guys would like to see in a weekly CC post, or ideas on how I could fairly give away a gift membership by using the CC? Let me know.
