So,I ordered a digital rebel XT kit from a seemingly reputable camera company on ebay. Yet only today did I realize the the resolution on my pictures is only 6.3MgP. They sent me a 300D and I didnt realize it because everything else (as far as I know) is identical. I have had the camera for about a month. Any ideas as to best course of action for geting the camera I paid for? |

That sucks.
Yeah start with them. Are the an authorized Canon dealer? If they are, you may be able to escalate up to Canon itself... |

The 300 and 350 are marked as such on the bottom corner of the front of the camera. I would try contacting the ebay seller and telling them what happened. If they are a big seller, it's possible that they just got mixed up and will resolve your problem. If not, I'd bring it up with ebay themselves. |

A month is a long time to wait. Check your reciept and your invoice. If they both say 300D on it I'm afraid there is little you can do. If it turns out it was not your error, but a bait and switch try to find a more reputable dealer for future purchases.
Edit to say, if this was an eBay transaction, you should be able to still link to the sale page. That will tell you if it was a mistake on the dealer's part.

Ooh, I missed that part. A month is a pretty long time to realize you didn't get what you wanted. I'm not sure how much sympathy they'll have for that. |

Can you tell us the name of the dealer so we can possibly approach the seller with an ounce of caution should we encounter a similar situation?

The auction page, my reciepts and invoice all specify digital rebel XT.
I plan on calling them on monday. Also, the Seller is digitalcorp. I would not recomend them. I just feel so stupid for not noticing I had the wrong camera until now.

This may sound stupid, but all you've said toindicate you have the wrong camera is that your resolution is different. I don't know how you are determining that, but you can LOWER the resolution by choosing your jpg quality level, basically, as far as the size of the output file is concerned.
I assume you've checked the box and the manual and they say "EOS Digital Rebel 300D" on them? I assume you've checked the front, lower right corner of the camera to see what it says there? It would be especially interesting if the box & manual were for a different body than the one you have received :-)
As far as "everything else" being identical, that's not even close to true; the 350 xt body is a lot smaller than the 300D body, for one thing.
Robt.

These guys have 22 neutrals and 17 negatives in the past month alone. You need to do your homework before you buy something on eBay. digitalcorp (12282)
