The long wait is almost over. We have made a deal to sell our condo (closing on 9/30) so we will be sitting on a large sum of $$$. The wife has given me the ok to get a new camera, im going for the 20D since I already have canon gear. I have had my D60 for just over 3 years

now I need to decide on what to get with it.

battery grip
lens
new tripod
new back pack case
a 1.4x tc
oh the list never ends

i have the timer remote, a 2x tc

i cant go too hog wild as we have to use this money to pay off bills, one of the loans for our house and stash some for savings and emergency funds and travel money.

im just so excited i can hardley contain my self

Hey, congratulations! Just don't spend it before the closing. I don't want to jinx you, but as a Realtor, I know how things can go wrong! It's always so tempting for me to "spend" a commission check before a deal has closed (buy now, pay later sort of deals are everywhere!)

You'll have fun just figuring out everything you want and anticipating making those purchases. Have fun!

Looking at your current lens array, I don't see why you'd want a 1.4x converter since you have a 2x converter. Your current lens list has good coverage from moderately wide to quite long. They aren't the lenses I would choose, but they are already yours.

If there's any lens in that bunch that doesn't please you, let us know. Otherwise, I see you going wider, with the 10-22mm Canon, say. There are some 12-24mm out there too, Sigma and Tamron I think.

Not sure why you'd want the battery grip unless you think it makes the camera more comfortable. The battery life on the 20D out of the box is remarkably good. I shoot for days between charges.

Manfrotto 3021 Pro tripod is my latest addition, and it's really, really nice. A tad on the heavy side, but heavy=stable in tripods.

Congrats on your upgrade-to-come.

oh dont worry we are waiting until the check clears before we spend anything. our credit card is maxed out as it is now.

the 2x tc I have is not very good, but this could wait until next year.

tripod I really want a new one, I have been looking at the Manfrotto 3021 and a few others in this range.

I would like a much wider lens, the 19-35 I have now is not so desireable, it does ok and gives good results for night shots, but day time shots the color it produces is yuck. I would like to get the Sigma 12-24, but I also want the sigma 70-200 2.8. but I cant have all of it, some will definately have to wait. Good thing is I get a bonus at work in March and we are planning on a heafty tax return next year as well. so some items are going to have to wait until then
